Requirements:
Must be able to take call. Graduate from an accredited
school of surgical technologist.
CST Certification (Certified Surgical Technologist).
Certified as a CSTFA by the LCC-ST (Liaison Council on Certification for the
Surgical Technologist). Must have CPR within one week of hire. Must have
previous experience. ACLS, PALS certifications preferred. Able to effectively
communicate in English
Additional languages preferred. Basic computer knowledge.
Provides direct patient care to neonate through geriatric
patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects
of care before, during and after surgery. Demonstrates proficiency as a scrub
technician. CST/FA must demonstrate advanced knowledge and technical skills to
assist the surgeon during surgery and at the ,always acting under the direct
guidance and supervision of a licensed surgeon. Performs other duties as
assigned.

Requirements:
Knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique and
universal precautions throughout the Perioperative continuum; the principles of growth and development over the life span
and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served;
Prepares for each procedure by reviewing Physician
preference cards, collaborating with circulating nurse and surgeon and
utilizing other resources, as needed (more experienced staff, publications,
vendor resources, manuals, etc.); assures the presence of all critical
instrumentation, supplies and equipment and that their in working order prior
to the beginning of each case; is able to open sterile supplies and set up for
procedures;
Is consistently ready and prepared for assigned cases and
has the surgical suite prepared 15 minutes before the scheduled time;
demonstrates consistent practices related to assuring correct patient, correct
procedure, correct site prior to start of procedure and intra-operatively, as
necessary; scrubs and assists the surgeon in the performance of surgical
procedures, working under the surgeon’s direction; responsible for collection,
identification and verification of specimens with the circulator; accurately
assures that all sponge, needle and instrument and other countable items are
accounted for at the end of the surgical procedure; communicates effectively to
optimize patient care, promote positive human relations and contributes to the
supportive and cooperative work environment; consistently anticipates needs of
surgeon before and throughout the surgical procedure; appropriately responds to
the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation.
Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning of OR
suites before and between cases and after terminal case; maintains and updates
preference cards with any changes and information required by next team;
participates in the re-stocking, re-supplying and cleaning of operating rooms,
specialty carts and storage areas.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care and
operation of all surgical equipment; demonstrates understanding and utilization
of cost containment principles related to all resources (supplies, personnel,
time, etc).
Immediately reports unsafe conditions, shortages of supplies
and faulty equipment to supervisor; Demonstrates thorough knowledge of
instrument processing, sterilization and biological monitoring. Actively
participates in instrument processing.
Floats, as assigned and provides on call 24 hour and weekend
emergency coverage and overtime for the department during unscheduled hours and
holidays.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program or
equivalent experience. Experience in a wide variety of Orthopedic procedures is
required. Current CPR certificate required
